Nuture

"The bond between a mother and child is sacred.  The act of breastfeeding is a mother's sacrifice, she surrenders her body for her child's well-being even after pregnancy.  The bond it establishes is unlike any other."

The artist's very personal experiences as a breastfeeding mother prompted her to incorporate her existing figures with the very intimate subject matter.  This enables her to test the boundary between universal abstraction and emotion within her figures.  The mother cuddles her baby closely, providing shelter, love, sustenance, and stability in a new world.  The child is more important than the mother in her mind, and the child's eye gives more depth than the mother's soft but undefined face.
